Dr. Ulrika Feudel is searching for a postdoc who would like to work on the transport of particles (seeds and small organisms which are modelled as inertial particles not as tracers) in the ocean on a global scale. The work place is located in the Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment at the University Oldenburg, Germany. In our project we would like to investigate the connectivity mediated by ocean flows between different archipelagos in the world's oceans like e.g. Canary Islands, Hawaiian Islands, Galapagos etc. to find the pathways and conditions of e.g. long-range plant distribution via ocean currents. It is a highly interdisciplinary project which involves scientists from ecology and physics which aims finally at getting more insights into the theory of biogeography based on real ocean flows instead of diffusion approaches that are usually used in this ecological theory. Interested PhD students finishing now or young postdoc researchers, then please forward this announcement to them.
The position is open until filled, but has to be filled soon. For further information contact me directly as outlined in the attached announcement.

Webinar: Introduction to protocols.io
SEP 16, 2022 AT 12:00 PM GMT
Conference call link: Zoom conference
Research papers and protocol organization in labs often lack detailed instructions for repeating experiments. protocols.io is an open-access platform for researchers to collaboratively create step-by-step, interactive and dynamic protocols that can be run on mobile or web. Researchers can share protocols with colleagues, collaborators, the scientific community or make them public, with ease and efficiency.
