The AMRI network, funded by SciLifeLab (2019-2023) and led by Stefan Bertilsson, Rachel Foster, Jarone Pinhassi and Anders Andersson. This research community project brought together Swedish researchers under four themes: 1) Microorganisms as ecosystem engineers, 2) Microbial interactions and evolution, 3) Microbial biogeography across and within aquatic biomes, and 4) Bioinformatics of aquatic microbes.
In 2024, a new generation of aquatic microbial ecologists took over the board to pursue this original initiative and continue strengthening collaborations between Swedish scientists.
