Call 2021 for Postdoctoral EU grant: Welcoming highly-talented international post-docs in Brittany

The European Union will soon launch a specific call for 2-year postdoctoral positions in laboratories located in Brittany (France) and the Biological Station of Roscoff is one of the 8 laboratories eligible to this program (cf. https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/899546/fr). 25 postdoc grants will be available early 2021 and two other calls will follow in 2022 and 2023 for 'highly talented scientists' who should not have spent more than 12 months in France in the last 3 years. The first call will be opened soon (this month) for an application deadline mid-March 2021. Results will be in July and the contract could start as early as September 2021.

15 PhD positions at the ITN network ‘Physics of microbial motility’ (PHYMOT)

The ITN network ‘Physics of microbial motiliy’ (PHYMOT) advertises 15 PhD positions at various European laboratories with an application deadline 20 January 2021. The projects span all kinds of topics related to the physics of cilia/flagella and their role in motility, feeding, ecology, and transport in micro-organisms.

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia CANADA

Bioinformatics, comparative genomics, gene transfer, endosymbiosis, protists, algae

Archibald Lab, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Highly skilled and self-motivated researcher at the postdoctoral level to study endosymbiosis from a comparative genomic perspective. Organisms of interest include (but are not limited to) cryptophyte algae and Paramoeba species.

The Archibald Lab is part of a collegial and internationally recognized community of comparative genomics and molecular evolution researchers at Dalhousie University. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with these researchers and with those at other institutions. Demonstrated skills in bioinformatics and comparative genomics are essential, as are strong written and oral communication abilities. The position is available starting May 1, 2021 (actual start date negotiable) and will run for an initial 1-year period, with the possibility of extension to 3 years given satisfactory performance. All qualified and interested persons are encouraged to apply.
