In order to promote young scientists early in their careers, SciLifeLab and Science magazine/AAAS have joined forces in creating a global prize awarding the best PhD thesis work in life science. An essay based on the thesis is submitted to the editorial board of Science and four winners are selected each year.
As a winner, you will have your essay published by Science, receive up to 30,000 USD and be invited to Sweden where you receive your award, present your research and meet with leading scientists in your field. The award banquet is held in the Hall of Mirrors at Grand Hôtel, the original venue of the Nobel Prize.
WASP and DDLS announce a joint call for research projects
The SciLifeLab and Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) was launched in 2020 by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW). DDLS is a 12-year funding initiative to support data-driven life science in Sweden with SciLifeLab as the host. The program will focus on four strategic research areas of data-driven research:
Cell and molecular biology
Evolution and biodiversity
Precision medicine and diagnostics
Epidemiology and infection biology

Baltic Breakfast, June 18th, 8:30 - 9:15
Increased consumption of seafood from a sustainability perspective
Link to webinar: su.se/ostersjocentrum/balticbreakfast
Summer vacation is approaching with lots of chances of barbecues. But what shall we eat? Will increased consumption of seafood benefit food sustainability and the marine ecosystems? What can science tell us about environmental impact of increased seafood consumption? Are consumers interested in buying sustainable seafood?
Date: 18 June 2021, 8:30-9:15 (CET)
The webinar is broadcast at su.se/ostersjocentrum/balticbreakfast
No registration is needed.
Speakers
Sara Hornborg, PhD in natural science, researcher, Sustainable consumption and Production at RISE, Research Institutes of Sweden
Malin Jonell, PhD in system ecology, researcher, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University
