The registration for the European N2 fixation conference (ENFC) in Naples, Italy is open! A parallel session is chaired by AMRI PI Rachel Foster, focused on free-living and symbiotic N2 fixation, and this year the opening plenary will be given by Prof. Marcel Kuypers from the MPI Bremen.

Understanding the functioning and relevance of symbiotic interactions among marine organisms is a growing research area in marine science. In particular, the interest in N2-fixing symbioses has exponentially increased in recent years, with new associations found in diverse habitats (coastal, benthic, deepsea, plankton) and in a wide array of organisms, from planktonic diatoms to scleractinian corals and chemosynthetic symbioses involving bivalves.
